Lin Fang
Senior Section Lead, Development Services, Lonza Singpaore
Lin Fang studied Bioengineering at Nanyang Technological University. After graduating, she joined Lonza Singapore as an Analytical Scientist. During her time at Lonza she developed into becoming a Senior Section Lead within Development Services.
I chose
Lonza because…
...of the tremendous variety Lonza offers. As a world-class contract manufacturing organization, there are many opportunities to be involved in different stages of the development and production of a range of biopharmaceutical products. Change is always constant here and there is a strong drive for continuous improvement and transformation.
Since I
started at Lonza, my career has progressed…
I joined Lonza as a STRAT trainee. STRAT was a collaboration between Lonza and the Economic Development Board of Singapore. Lonza gave me the opportunity to begin my training in Slough (UK) and this helped to set the foundation for my analytical career. One year later I returned to Singapore as a full-time technologist and was mainly involved in formulation and process analytics. Working in the stability studies and reference standard team as an Analytical Scientist helped me to develop my skills in report writing, data preparation for regulatory submissions as well as change requests and to become a Senior Section Lead. Over the years I’ve also benefited from the wide exposure to state-of-the-art technology that I’ve had.
It’s
special to work at Lonza because…
The way we prioritize safety. The safety-first mindset is a significant part of Lonza’s culture, something you experience right from your first day of work.
My work
is meaningful because…
Part of my work involves reviewing and recommending product shelf life based on real-time stability data. As an example, for COVID-19 vaccines that data is critical in ascertaining the vaccine’s stability at various temperature ranges, which would, in turn, impact drug distribution and delivery.
I’m also extremely proud of the work my colleagues in Visp (CH) and Portsmouth (US) are doing with Moderna, producing the drug substance for their COVID-19 vaccine. Being part of a company that has such a direct impact on patients worldwide makes me feel my work is truly meaningful.
What
makes me feel good at the end of the working day is…
Going home knowing we’ve made a meaningful difference to people’s lives worldwide. Our logo may not be on the printed product labels of the biopharmaceutical products, but being able to play a part in their development and manufacture gives me great satisfaction.
The most
exciting thing about working at Lonza is…
Lonza is a dynamic place to be both in terms of our work environment and how we have fun away from work. I’ve enjoyed all kinds of social activities, from charity events to exercise and wellness programs to virtual dinner and dance events.
What I
most appreciate about my team is...
We are a small team that punches above its weight. My colleagues are excellent team players and we can always count on each other.
