Job Description Summary 

We are actively recruiting candidates to participate in our 2025 On-site Internship program. This position is 12 weeks in length and will immerse you in the culture and operations of Lonza Vacaville.

MSAT Purification intern job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Working with engineers and specialists to learn the science behind the purification unit operations of the manufacturing process. 

  • Assisting in laboratory operations, including process buffer and chromatography column preparation, maintaining analytical equipment and monitoring of purification step performance. 

  • Completing lab-scale experiments for chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration and normal flow filtration operations. 

  • Coordinating and participating in design and execution of process characterization and validation studies. 

  • Documenting lab activities in electronic notebook, authoring test plan and technical reports, and presenting experiment outcomes in group meetings. 

The internship program begins May 27th, 2025, or June 16th, 2025. Potential interns must be able to commit to 40 hours per week throughout the duration of the summer internship.

Required Education 

  • Completion of junior year (typically 90 credits) towards a B.S. degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4) required 

  • Must currently be enrolled in BS or MS Academic Program

Work Environment

This job position involves working in a manufacturing setting with potential hazardous chemicals and other related hazards. All employees must practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.

About Vacaville

Our Lonza Vacaville site is a commercial, multi-product manufacturing facility located in Vacaville, California, 53 miles north of San Francisco. The site, which employs over 780 employees, is a large‑scale mammalian cell culture production facility designed around the monoclonal antibody (MAb) platform.   It is one of the Drug Substance production sites in the Lonza Biologics production network.  The site consists of two large-scale manufacturing facilities (CCP1 and CCP2), a hub warehouse, and QC laboratories that serve both local and network production operations.

We offer an onsite cafeteria and other amenities. The city of Vacaville is near Napa vineyards, and a few hours' drive to national parks such as Lake Tahoe and Yosemite.

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
