Every day, our products and services have a positive impact on the lives of millions worldwide. This is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves.

Globally, we are driven by our firm commitment to high quality and operational excellence across the regions, functions and markets we serve, every day. Our dedication to customer success, empowerment, trust and integrity governs how we do business and how we interact with each other.

Each employee is accountable for upholding the Lonza Code of Conduct and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Lonza's risk management supports each employee's responsibility and accountability in their daily work and ethical and compliant behavior. Additionally, Lonza's risk management is supported by independent checks and controls from the Quality Assurance, Finance, Legal, Intellectual Property, and Ethics and Compliance teams. As a third layer, Internal Audit performs periodic reviews to control risk.

Our Ethics and Compliance program is designed to support legal and ethical actions throughout the company. It covers the activities of advice and assistance, education and training, and monitoring and control. Combined, these efforts ensure compliant company performance across our global network.

Ethics and Compliance Program

Performance with integrity

Our activities are guided by our dedication to integrity and ethical conduct. This means setting the right priorities and delivering our commitments while adhering to our values and to the standards outlined in our Code of Conduct.

We can do this by:

  • Integrating integrity in all we do
  • Holding ourselves personally accountable to high, ethical standards
  • Demonstrating leadership by fostering an environment focused on performance with integrity and accountability
  • Speaking up to build an open and responsible workplace culture

Our successful efforts in this area were recognized by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices. We were honored as one of the 2024 World’s Most Ethical Companies®, marking the third time Lonza has received the accolade. Lonza is one of just two companies headquartered in Switzerland included in the 2024 ranking, and one of four companies named within the pharmaceuticals designation of the Ethisphere ranking.

Code of Conduct

We believe that any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically. The Lonza Code of Conduct serves as the cornerstone of our operations, guiding every employee in upholding the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism. It outlines clear expectations for behavior, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and fostering a culture of trust and respect. Our Code of Conduct reflects our commitment to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in a manner that upholds our values and builds long-term stakeholder trust.

Anti-Corruption and Anti-Bribery

It is our policy to conduct our business in an honest, fair and ethical manner. We strictly forbid bribery and corruption of any kind and we are committed to acting professionally, fairly and with integrity at all times. To this end, we implement and enforce effective systems to prevent bribery and corruption. We provide employees with guidance through anti-bribery and anti-corruption training and policies to ensure compliance with applicable global anti-corruption laws and regulations.

Supply Chain Transparency

In accordance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act and Canada’s Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, the relevant Lonza entities have prepared certain disclosures about supply chain transparency. The disclosures set out the steps that those Lonza entities have taken and the planned future actions to prevent modern slavery, forced labor and child labor in their business and direct supply chain.
