For our site in Visp we are looking for a Head of Plant Engineering & Maintenance (m/f/d). In this role you will be responsible for an overall management of all activities in the area of plant engineering and maintenance, utilities, infrastructure and facilities for the Specialized Modalities Assets. You will lead a team of supervisors, senior engineers and specialists in the area of Engineering & Maintenance, CQV, EI&C, Utilities / Facilities Operations. You will be accountable for the performance and results of the assigned area including quality, costs and safety, being member of the Specialized Modalities Leadership Team Visp.

What you’ll do:

  • Working as Plant Engineering Lead in Capital investment projects for building and commissioning of new manufacturing units.

  • Provide leadership to the team with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions and discipline issues.

  • Responsible for developing and implementing the Maintenance and LAMP strategy, standards and concepts in the Specialized Modalities facilities in alignment with the whole Lonza Visp site.

  • Focus on cost-efficient preventive maintenance. Responsible for implementation of change-over strategy.

  • Secure professional and economic execution of maintenance activities and high availability of the manufacturing units and equipment.

  • Responsible for control and compliance of annual maintenance budget, lump sum and CAPEX budget.

  • Representing Engineering & Maintenance during regulatory inspections and customer audits.

  • Responsible for control of own cost centers, identify and implement cost reduction measures.

What we’re looking for:

  • University degree in the area of Mechanical Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Automation or similar.

  • Profound experience in a leading position in Biopharma Engineering, Maintenance and Operations.

  • Strong leadership skills and strong team orientation.

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification – an advantage.

  • Ability to communicate internally and externally at higher levels; strong business understanding.

  • Structured, focused and well-organized working attitude.

  • Agile, highly motivated, dynamic drive and solution-oriented.

  • Business fluent German and English language skills are required
