Section Lead, Quality Control, Lonza Singapore
Grace joined Lonza in 2010, through the Strategic Attachment and Training (STRAT) programme, an initiative supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board. A decade on, Grace is now a section lead in the Quality Control department, and she has enjoyed every moment of her Lonza journey so far.

As an international business, handling different products for a worldwide customer base, I felt Lonza would offer me constant challenges and plenty of diversity in the workplace.
Since I
started at Lonza, my career has progressed…
… in exciting ways. I joined in 2010, under the STRAT Programme, and began my Lonza career with a two-year placement in Walkersville, MD (US). There I was involved in end-to-end processes, including environmental monitoring, bioassay and microbial testing. In 2012, I returned to Lonza Singapore as a full-time Quality Control Analyst, performing day-to-day testing of cell therapy products and environmental monitoring of cleanrooms. I subsequently had opportunities to grow my experience in other roles involving investigation writing, as well as data analysis, review and approval. Today, I am a section lead in charge of managing multiple cross-functional projects and with responsibility for coaching and training junior colleagues.

For me it is because of the diversity that comes from making different products and interacting with different customers and colleagues around the world.
My work
is meaningful because…
First, because I have a part to play in ensuring the products we make are manufactured in a controlled, aseptic environment and are safe for use. Secondly, in my role now, I am able to coach younger colleagues and can share my experiences and knowledge with them.
What
makes me feel good at the end of the working day is…
Knowing that I have completed what I set out to do that day, and being confident that what I have achieved will have a positive impact on the lives of others.
The most
exciting thing about working at Lonza is…
Being directly involved in the development and production of medicines that are distributed to patients all around the world.
