On January 15, 2025, the U.S. FDA announced that FD&C Red No. 3 (erythrosine, E127) colorant will no longer be authorized for use in foods and ingested drugs. Manufacturers have until January 15, 2027, for food (including dietary supplements) and January 18, 2028, for pharmaceuticals to reformulate their products intended to be marketed in the US.

At Lonza, we believe that every challenge is an opportunity to innovate. With our broad color portfolio and deep expertise in capsule design and manufacturing, we can help you remain compliant without compromising on quality and brand identity. Whether you need to reformulate existing products or develop new ones, Lonza is here to support you every step of the way.
