Rapid and consistent in vivo drug dissolution is critical for drug absorption but frequently, it is difficult to predict in vivo performance with in vitro dissolution tests. This technical article compares bioequivalence in a human in vivo study of an immediate-release caplets overencapsulated with either gelatin or hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). In tests with three different BDDCS drugs, the two types of overencapsulated dosage forms showed bioequivalence.
