Yes. In an independent study of OTC preference for gelcaps, consumers chose Capsugel® XPress-Fit® and Capsugel® Press-Fit® by a ratio of two-to-one over white tablets for their perceived benefits: Easier to swallow, Easy to digest, Leaves no aftertaste, Faster-acting form, Higher quality.

The tablet/caplet shape should be oblong. Capsugel® has a lot of experience converting tablet shapes. The shapes are well defined and exist in many different sizes. Simply put, the process involves developing a specific caplet shape, coating the caplet with a patented treatment, and, using an exclusive cold-shrink process to adhere the gelatin shell to the caplet creating one tightly bonded, elegant looking product.

Capsugel® gelcaps can be uniquely configured to fit any branding goals, including single-color unibody design, two-color variations, and transparent halves that show the caplet surface. Logos and printing can also be applied for complete product differentiation.

Capsugel®’s proprietary Press-Fit® and XPress-Fit® gelcap technology is difficult to mimic and enables brands to create a new look for their product with minimal effort and without having to reformulate. The result is a product that stands out to consumers and may help generate increased sales.

Unlike competing gel-enrobed technologies, Capsugel® gelcaps can be easily manufactured in-house without prohibitive investment, or can be outsourced. Capsugel® has collaborated with IMA, a leading manufacturer of capsule filling machines, to help you implement a robust process that is easy to install and operate without additional sealing. Capsugel® has a proven track record of seamless technical transfer to manufacturing locations globally.

While our traditional Capsugel® Press-Fit® gelcaps totally enrobe a caplet core between two high-gloss gelatin coatings, our XPress-Fit® technology leaves a center portion of the caplet exposed. This allows for further color possibilities as the caplet color is now viewed by the consumer (allowing for a total of 3 colors to be seen as the gelcaps can have a different color for the cap and the body). This technology allows for ease of swallowability, brand differentiation, and consumer appeal.
