We are hiring driven individual to join us as Maintenance Excellence Lead in Basel Switzerland!

You will play a meaningful role in crafting and implementing Lonza’s Asset Management Global Strategy, with a focus on improving the performance, reliability, and lifespan of production facilities while optimizing cost efficiency.

The role is based in Basel, Switzerland. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

In this role you will act as a global Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will develop and own key standards, processes, and tools, fostering innovation and harmonization across sites.

This role emphasizes data-driven decision-making, digital tools, and risk-based strategies to improve asset management practices, support operational excellence, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

In addition you will provide functional leadership to global Asset Management team, as well as site maintenance personnel. You will ensure alignment with global standards, processes, and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities:

1.Strategy and Innovation

Perform market watch and benchmark industry standards for asset management.

Evaluate current processes and implement improvement ideas (innovation) for processes, plants, and procedures (maintenance excellence, calibration, predictive maintenance, counted-based maintenance, conditioned maintenance…).

Translate technological change, advanced know-how, and efficient processes into the Lonza network (machine learning and AI, smart metering…)

2. Standards and Tools Development

Develop and maintain templates, standards, and tools supporting the implementation of best practices in growth projects (operational readiness for maintenance, digital tools for maintenance and calibration…) and sites.

3. Work Streams and Projects

Propose and lead work streams and/or projects addressing harmonization, standardization, efficiency, reliability, innovation, and digitalization, potentially with external partners.

4. Performance Monitoring and Support

Develop and track Key Performance Indicators to monitor progress and performance. Ensure they are available and up-to-date on shared platform. Review them monthly with the sites / quarterly with the Business Units.

5. Leadership and Digital Transformation

Act as a global project leader to progress work streams, including maintenance digitalization projects.

6. Functional Leadership and Reporting

Offer functional leadership to site maintenance teams, ensuring alignment with Lonza’s global asset management strategy, processes, and objectives.

Key requirements:

  • BSc or relevant experience in Engineering or related field

  • English proficient, any additional language is an asset

  • Experience within the reliability engineering / maintenance field in Life Science

  • Experience implementing asset management programs on a large or global scale

  • Project management skills and familiarity with Operational Excellence tools

  • Hands-on experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). SAPPM experience preferred

  • Agile and pro-active relationship management in a multi-matrix organization

  • Hands-on experience in implementing asset management best practices in Engineering / Maintenance in a multi-site or global environment

  • Good knowledge of the ISO 55000 standard and asset management principles.
