No two days are ever the same at Lonza. That was true when I joined as a Junior Quality Engineer, and it remains the same now that I am the Facility Manager at Geleen.
Initially I focused on the engineering aspects of the pharma business, from equipment acquisition to validation, qualification and maintenance. In 2017, the site’s growth meant my focus switched to new facilities projects such as lab and cleanroom expansions. That was my platform to progress to Facility Engineering Manager.
It is very satisfying to use my engineering passion to make a difference to the world of medicine and healthcare. Sustainability is very important to us too. For example, I recently led on the switch from fluorescent to LED lighting and our gas-free buildings program.
At every stage of my career there have been multiple challenges to face. Expansion projects are always unique and special. To me, success is when you deliver in a way that keeps all the different stakeholders happy. With more expansion projects coming, I am looking forward to the next challenges in keeping everything running smoothly. The growth of my own department is a nice bonus.
