Maintenance Technician (day shift)

A new opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Technician at our Slough site. This role, which reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor within the Lonza Engineering Department, is responsible for delivering the performance of the site maintenance requirements (Reactive and Planned) and in addition to this comply with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Costs.

This is a day shift role working a 4-on, 4-off pattern (2 x 7am-7pm, followed by 2 x 10am-10pm)

Key responsibilities:

Safety

  • Drive the health and safety culture to create a healthy and risk-free working environment.
  • Support the team safely at all times, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed and all relevant PPE required for the tasks is worn.

Quality

  • Escalate any issues that might compromise product safety and product quality.
  • Ensure all planned maintenance tasks are performed to the required standard.
  • Work to and lead by example Lonza Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining the department working environment (Workshop, stores and production areas) to defined GMP standards at all times.
  • Ensure adherence to maintenance records and correct completion of SAP PM and GMP SOP/Processes .
  • Timely review of completed work orders to ensure compliance to Lonza procedures.

Delivery 

  • Deliver the agreed maintenance plan within the planned resource and timeframes.
  • Lead continuous improvement within the shift by challenging existing practices, using OE methodologies and effectively managing change.
  • Utilities-based delivery (e.g. working with boilers, water cooling systems, etc.)
  • Organising immediate actions to fix problems.
  • Communicating performance issues on previous shift & main critical points.
  • Ensure training meets site requirements.
  • Provide a comprehensive handover between shifts and engineering supervisor(s)
  • Ensure timely escalation of issues and non conformance to Maintenance lead

Key requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a mechanical technician role.
  • Able to work to a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern as listed above
  • Relevant qualification, such as an Apprenticeship within a relevant discipline, NVQ 3, City & Guilds or Equivalent.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including report writing
