Taste and odor masking offerings

Effective taste & odor masking have been shown to have a marked effect on patient compliance, especially for specialized patient populations. We've developed an array of effective approaches to meet your TPP and the commercial objectives of your compound. Taste masking is accomplished in one of three ways:

Using sweeteners, flavors, and viscosity modifiers to manipulate the perception of taste without changing the concentration of free drug in the solution
Preferentially binding the drug to a substrate that reduces the free-drug concentration, ideally below the taste threshold
Applying functional coatings that modify the release of the drug, keeping the free-drug concentration below the taste threshold for a time period relevant to the preparation and administration of the dose

Colonic delivery technology

Colonic drug delivery is historically utilized to treat colon-specific diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome but is also increasingly explored for other therapeutic applications, taking advantage of the colon’s extensive absorptive surface area. We combine our expertise in encapsulation and targeted delivery to the gastro-intestinal track to achieve effective colonic delivery. Functionally coated multiparticulates designed for drug release at pH 6.8 – 7.2 is a proven approach for targeting the colon. We provide integrated service options for colonic drug delivery, inclusive of API, functionally coated multiparticulates (drug layered inert beads or coated matrix formats, inclusive of lipid multiparticulate approaches), and encapsulation.
